Programme
In a medical emergency, some first aid knowledge combined with immediate action can save lives, particularly in remote locations without external assistance.
This course is therefore designed for those sailing small vessels, whether sailing or motorboats, clearly distinguishing what can realistically be done onboard versus conventional first aid where an ambulance is 10 minutes away.
Recovery Position in a confined space;
Thermal shock and hypothermia resulting from immersion or exposure to the elements;
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) with special emphasis on drowning;
Seasickness and dehydration;
Medical assistance via VHF;
Helicopter evacuation;
This certificate is valid for 3 years, after which a refresher is required.
Besides updating your knowledge (protocols are regularly revised), you can practise and refresh various skills including CPR and AED use.
