Programme
The examination will assess your skipper abilities, seamanship, manoeuvring, navigation (including theory), safety knowledge, understanding of the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea (lights, beacons, signals), and meteorology.
We can support you in areas that need improvement with a tailor-made programme following a meeting to identify the skills you need to develop.
It is possible to request an examiner to assess you aboard your own yacht or one of ours. There is no predefined preparatory course for the examination.
Often, at the Yachtmaster Coastal level, candidates attend the RYA Coastal Skipper course before taking the examination. However, no formal preparation programme exists as it depends on the candidate’s prior experience and knowledge.
